What you will visit:
Addo Elephant National Park
The Addo Elephant Park is home to about 300 pachyderms, which were hunted almost to extinction by the 1920s. The third-largest national park in South Africa, this vast, biodiverse conservation area boasts incredible landscapes dotted with citrus trees and abundant fauna and flora. The Addo elephant is smaller than its African cousin, with a reddish color and rounder ears. Sharing the 126,000 acres of bush is a variety of wild game, including lions, cheetahs, zebras, hyenas and the unique flightless dung beetle, found almost exclusively in Addo. (Sightings cannot be guaranteed.)
What you will see along the way:
The 50-mile motorcoach ride to Addo Elephant National Park crosses the Swartkops River and turns inland to the flat valley of the Sundays River. The area is noted for its tranquil beauty, nestled amongst rolling hills and the sand dunes of the Eastern Cape. Once on safari, your guide will maneuver the open-air safari vehicle through the rugged terrain, dotted with citrus trees, to allow the best view of the Addo elephants and other wildlife.
Photo Opportunities:
Fill your camera with wonderful images of wildlife. A long lens is a must for capturing the animals and birdlife, and remember to pack a charger, spare battery and extra memory cards. It is also helpful to bring ziplock bags to protect your equipment from dust. Don't forget to take a few pictures of family and friends as well as the wildlife.
