Board your air-conditioned transportation for the drive to Chagres National Park. En route, your guide will discuss the history and heritage of these native people who call the rainforest home. Arrive at Chagres National Park and board your rustic dugout canoe for the journey to the Embera Village. Keep an eye out for monkeys, toucans, and sloths. As you enter the jungles of Chagres, you will encounter the Embera people. The Embera are a unique and beautiful people. This tribe still lives in harmony with their natural surroundings in the rainforest. Witness traditional song and dance along with music performed on handmade instruments. Stroll about the village and interact with these gentle people and browse for traditional crafts. A snack and beverage are served before your return trip to the ship.

Special Notes:

Wildlife sightings, while common, are not guaranteed. Embarking and disembarking dugout canoes requires dexterity and flexibility. The landing is a rudimentary put-in point with no handrails or steps. Reaching the village requires climbing an incline; a handrail is available and a guide assists passengers. The Embera people wear minimal clothing; women do not cover their breasts. The Embera have beautiful and unique handmade souvenirs for sale. Please bring small bills. Facilities throughout the tour are very basic, at the Embera Village only latrines are available. Tour duration may vary from 5.5 to 6 hours long during the months of February until May, due to low water levels of the river. An alternate native village may be used due to water levels. Once participants join their tour, they will be required to complete a liability waiver.

The Panama Canal Authority assigns specific time slots for the transit of a vessel through the locks. The ship will anchor in a designated area and will wait for instructions. Once clearance is transmitted to the ship, procedures begin to bring ship's tour passengers ashore. Therefore, tour departure times may vary and will be announced onboard. The return time of the ship to Colon or Cristobal may also be delayed due to transit through the locks. We recommend that you are prepared for any potential of delay in the ship's arrival to Colon or Cristobal and plan accordingly by bringing any needed medication or essential items on tour.

Depending on the voyage and itinerary guests will be dropped off in either Colon or Cristobal.
