Description

Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.

Orkney, made up of about 70 islands, boasts a coastline that stretches out over 1,000 miles with a never-ending supply of fish and shellfish. And its interior is home to farms that raise beef, lamb and an abundance of vegetables. Get to know the region and its culture with a two-hour excursion to a local restaurant for a private tasting of delicious Orcadian delicacies accompanied by live traditional Orcadian music.

Your culinary adventure begins with a short transfer by shuttle to Kirkwall's town center.

You'll arrive at the restaurant and meet your restaurant host who will guide you into a private dining hall for a scrumptious tasting. Orkney's pure air, clean seas and fertile land have produced top quality food for centuries and the Islands have become world-famous for their award-winning beef, local shellfish and locally grown fruits and vegetables.

After you've been comfortably seated your host will serve up a feast of Orcadian delights On the sampler menu you'll find Orkney farmhouse cheese with bere bannocks (pronounced 'bear,' these traditional biscuits are made with a special barley that's grown on Orkney), mouthwatering Orkney herring and Orkney oatcakes; and freshly-caught partan toes, also known as crab claws. Followed by succulent slow cooked feather blade of Orkney beef with tatties or potatoes. Have a sweet tooth? After the main course, you'll be served up a helping of homemade Orkney fudge cheesecake and Orkney ice cream.

Of course the experience would not be complete without sampling Orkney's very own local ales and single malt whiskies while listening to live traditional Orcadian music.

Once you've completed your epicurean journey of sight, scent and taste, you'll return by shuttle to your ship, relaxed and ready to begin your next adventure.
