Description

Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.

Board your motorcoach at the pier and drive along the palm-lined beachfront of Nha Trang, Vietnam's most legendary seaside resort with an experienced guide. You'll pass by the airport which was built by the Americans during the Viet Nam War and continue past the statue of Tran Hung Dao, a Vietnamese hero who fought against the 13th century Mongol invasion, enjoying expert narration along the way.

Your route leads through the bustling downtown district where you'll learn to pick out the remaining examples of French colonial architecture. Then you'll cross the Cai River on your way to Ponagar and a fascinating guided tour of the temple complex.

The Champa Kingdom flourished for over a thousand years and the Ponagar Cham Tower is perhaps the best preserved of all Cham sites. Dedicated to the goddess Uroja, the central tower features a black stone sculpture of the deity to whom local villagers still bring offerings of flowers and incense.

Set amidst a lush tropical oasis of palm trees and other examples of local vegetation, the temple complex, which features four different temple towers, offers insight into the ancient mythology and spirituality of the Vietnamese culture.

As a counterpoint to your land-based adventure, enjoy a serene sightseeing cruise along the Cai River. Relax as you glide past coconut groves and soak up the sights and sounds of life on the river as you spy fishermen at work on their nets.

The cruise continues to a riverside clay-oven workshop where you'll visit with a family that produces clay ovens. Every year the country people of the Khanh Hoa Province mark the onset of Tet, the Lunar New Year, by smashing their clay ovens.

At a rural village, you'll take a stroll for a close-up look at how people live and work. During your visit, enjoy a coconut beverage and sample a selection of fresh tropical fruits that may include mangoes, pineapples, rambutans (a spiny red fruit), watermelons, and bananas.
