WHAT YOU VISIT
Thames Glass Studio
Learn how to make a keepsake ornament with local master artist and co-owner Matt Buechner. Upon arrival, you'll be briefed on the safety and techniques of working with glass. Then, Matt will lead you through a step-by-step lesson where you'll gather your materials, place molten glass in the 2,000-degree furnace, roll the glass to form a cylinder shape, dip the glass into crushed colored glass, and blow into the pipe and roll it at the same time. Because each piece needs to cure in an annealing oven for two days, your glass handy-work will be shipped to your home.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
Once in your coach seat, your narrated drive will take you past Newport's highlights, allowing for photo opportunities from the comfort of your seat.

WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
En route to the Thames Glass Studio, you'll travel past the historic district with its fine examples of Colonial, Federal, and Victorian homes, many of which are designated as National Historic Sites. Watch for Trinity Church, Redwood Library, and the Gothic Church of St Mary, where Jacqueline Bouvier married then-Senator John F. Kennedy. Continue along the famous, ten-mile Ocean Drive, and enjoy spectacular views of the rocky coastline. See where high society's millionaires of the early 20th century built their grand summer cottages along Bellevue Avenue. And witness the opulent mansions of the Vanderbilt, Astor and Morgan families, many of which have been beautifully preserved by the Newport Preservation Society.

Special Notes:

Please note: Wear comfortable clothes and shoes (no high heels) and bring sunglasses if you have them handy. Please tie back long hair. Minimum age is 8 years old. Excursion rate includes shipment of your creation to anywhere in the USA. For international guests please inquire at the studio for any additional shipping fees needed.
