What you will visit:

Newcastle (guided drive)
Newcastle is situated on the northern bank of the River Tyne, which was instrumental in the city's industrial history, providing an important port and export pathway for coal. Today, the quayside has been transformed into a lively enclave of trendy boutiques, restaurants and galleries. Narrated drives through the city reveal its contemporary and Victorian neighborhoods, heritage attractions including St. Nicholas Cathedral with its imposing bell tower, and the many bridges that span the wide Tyne, creating the unique cityscape of Newcastle. Grainger Town boasts classical architecture designed in the 1830s, with 40% of its buildings designated as historically and architecturally important.

What you will see along the way:
Gaze out the motorcoach window as the pretty and historic city of Newcastle goes by. You'll delight in views of the city bridges, the quayside shopping and entertainment district, Grainger Town's elegant 19th-century sandstone buildings, and St. Nicholas Cathedral. Admire, the Theatre Royal, and remnants of the city walls and castle. Cross the river to the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art and conclude with a stop at the Angel of the North, a wonderful steel sculpture.
Photo Opportunities:

Angel of the North
British sculptor Antony Gormley's Angel of the North statue, a rich rust color from the weathering steel, rises 65 feet (20 meters), dominating the skyline. It is made from 200 tons of steel, has an incredible wingspan of 177 feet (54 meters) and can withstand winds of more than 100 mph.
