What you will visit:

Alnwick Castle
One of Britain's most iconic landmarks, Alnwick Castle, nicknamed the "Windsor of the North," is the second largest inhabited castle and has been the hereditary seat of the dukes of Northumberland since 1309. Instantly recognizable as Hogwarts Castle from the famed Harry Potter films, the magnificent medieval architecture also played a starring role on the television show "Downton Abbey." A tour of the Italian Renaissance interiors include the state apartments for views of the Old Master paintings by Canaletto, Van Dyck and Titian. Step outside to stroll the landscaped park created by Capability Brown in the 18th century.

What you will see along the way:
Settle into your motorcoach and enjoy the picturesque views that stretch out before you en route to Alnwick Castle. From port, head to Tynemouth, a pretty village overlooking the North Sea, before heading north along the coast through the quaint seaside resort of Whitley Bay and past the former coal mining community of Ashington. From here, the coastline opens up to a wide expanse of long, pristine beaches, separated by small fishing villages, including Amble, Alnmouth and Warkworth, which is dominated by its ruined castle. On the return ride, enjoy relaxing vistas of lovely farmland with views to the remote Cheviot before returning through the outskirts of Newcastle to port.

Photo Opportunities:

You'll want to capture photos of the imposing exterior of Alnwick Castle, now iconic after appearances in such films as Robin Hood and as Hogwarts in the Harry Potter movies.
