WHAT YOU VISIT
Mohaka River Raft Float Trip
Designed for families of all ages and abilities, a rafting float trip down the Mohaka River is a calm and inspiring way to experience some of New Zealand's most beautiful wilderness. This rafting float trip is on a Grade 2 river, which is typically flat, with moving water that features small rapids and waves and a possibility of small drops in pitch along the way. You may ride the occasional rolling rapids, take a dip in one of the whirlpools, or just relax as you float, taking in nature at its best. Upon arrival at the rafting base, you'll participate in a safety briefing and receive your equipment. Then, travel about eight kilometers (five-and-a-half miles) through the Titiokura Saddle mountain pass to the other side of the range. Here, you'll begin your nearly 11-kilometer (seven-mile) float trip through low canyons and native vegetation.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES
Have your camera ready for the wildlife along the Mohaka River, which provides a welcoming habitat for many native bird species including the globally endangered blue duck.

LUNCH
Enjoy a lunch of a filled roll, bottled water, muesli bar, and seasonal fruit on the drive back to port.

WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
Your drive to the Mohaka River follows the old trails of the indigenous Maori and early settlers inland to Hawke's Bay along the Napier-Taupo Highway. Take in the scenic views of New Zealand's beautiful countryside along the way.
