Napier's Old Prison
Located on Napier's Bluff Hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean, this historic old prison offers views of the old quarry where the inmates used to work their hard days' labor to build the very walls that would keep them imprisoned. The prison was constructed in 1862, making it the oldest penal complex in New Zealand. After the prison closed, a family bought it and turned it into a tourist attraction with guided tours, and it also offers accommodation to brave travellers…if they dare.

Napier (Art Deco Walking Tour)
Dubbed the "Art Deco City," Napier was redesigned in the art deco style after a devastating earthquake destroyed the city in 1931. Within a remarkable two-year period, 111 new buildings were constructed in the downtown area in the contemporary style of the times: art deco. The style, which originated in Europe in the early 20th century, highlights the optimism and idealism of the Roaring '20s. It is noted for its pastel-colored structures marked by geometric lines and patterns and streamlined and sophisticated aerodynamic shapes created with glass and metal construction. Best appreciated on an up-close walking tour, the Art Deco District retains its original glamor and stunning history.

The National Aquarium of New Zealand
The National Aquarium of New Zealand houses the country's largest display of aquatic life and unique New Zealand wildlife, including sharks, stingrays, living coral. The Aquarium has reversed day and night in the Kiwi encounter so you can see Kiwis foraging for bugs and insects.

What you will see along the way:
Quirky Napier, in the Hawke's Bay region, displays some of the finest art deco architecture in the world. The Spanish-mission style of construction can also be seen, and many of the building facades are unexpectedly infused with Maori motifs, which lends a distinctly New Zealand twist to the classic design.
