- Dolphin Watching
Description
Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.
Your marine adventure takes you on an observational outing looking for the spinner dolphins and the slightly larger rough-tooth dolphins that inhabit the waters of Moorea year round. Also humpback whales are often seen from August through November. Spinner dolphins are frequently seen within the protected waters of the lagoon. Sea and weather conditions permitting, your tour may also venture just outside the reef to observe other species.
Your naturalist, a member of renowned marine biologist Dr. Michael Poole's research team, will point out areas of interest and provide commentary on the lives and habits of these fascinating marine mammals. Although guarantees can't be made, dolphins are sighted on 95% of all tours and humpback whales are also sighted on 90% of tours during their season. However, the in-depth commentary and magnificence of Moorea's scenic coastline promise a rewarding and memorable experience on those rare occasions when no dolphins or whales are sighted. One of the most popular tours, it has been featured on both the Discovery Channel and Animal Planet.
Special Notes:
Not available on all voyages.Sightings of wild dolphins or whales occur during 90% to 95% of tours but cannot be guaranteed. The dolphins are wild and roam freely -- sightings are likely, but are not guaranteed. Dr Poole is occasionally unavailable; in this event, his assistant guides the tour in his place. Tour duration may vary.
