Description

Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.

The glamorous Principality of Monaco, a jewel in the Mediterranean's crown, is a mere 10 minute transfer from your cruise ship to the foot of the famous Rock of Monaco and from there you will proceed to the top by elevators and escalators.

Arriving at the port, you immediately step into a world that is inhabited by billionaires and beautiful people but there's more to Monaco than just money and models - there's also a rich history, and on this enchanting guided tour of this unique principality you will be able to absorb yourself in both.

First stop, a short bus ride away, is the magical old town of Monaco which features twisting lanes, hidden vaulted passageways and picturesque buildings. Strong on tradition, the old city, which boasts magnificent views of the sea, sits on a rocky promontory extending into the Mediterranean.

You might choose to sit at a cafe and order a cup of coffee - or as the French call it, 'cafe au lait' - before your tour moves swiftly on to the Prince's Palace, built way back in 1191 and home to the much-revered Grimaldi family. Once there, your guide will make sure you have your audio wand, enabling you to soak up every captivating detail.

Your tour continues as you feast your eyes upon the luscious State apartments and the Throne Room .

Photography is not allowed inside the Palace but the opulent experience will live in your memory forever as your next stop beckons; a guided walking tour of the Old Town designed to showcase the wonderful points of interest in this ancient village.

Later, climbing the 30 steps to Saint Nicholas Cathedral you will then have a few minutes to soak up the quiet atmosphere inside this stone building and marvel at the colorful religious imagery and the Episcopal Throne, which has been carved out of Italian marble. Princess Grace, the much-loved actress, is interred here, alongside her husband, Prince Rainier.

The final hour of the day is then yours to fill in any way you wish. Maybe pay a visit to the Oceanographic Museum and Aquarium, which features sea animal skeletons and model ships.

Or if you think it's time to take the weight off your feet, you could simply enjoy a glass of local wine at one of the many bars and cafes.

Your day ends with a short walk back to the bus for the brief journey back to the Pier, basking in a day of newly-made memories that will live with you forever.
