What you will visit:
Old Town Market
A feast for the senses, this fun and attractive atmosphere is filled with fruits and vegetables and bright, fragrant flowers attractively displayed. As expected from a subtropical island, there is also plenty of fresh seafood as well as exotic produce, Madeira wine and sweet treats. A walk with your knowledgeable chef reveals the best way to shop and prepare for your special, regional meal.

Local Chef Cooking Experience
Luisa Freitas, your local chef, created the Madeira Cook Experience together with her sister after winning the II FN Kitchen Team Cup and taking third place in "À Descoberta do Talento - Rota das Estrelas" (The Discovery of the Talent - Route of the Stars). Chef Luisa is also owner of "Entre amigos" (Between Friends), a restaurant in Funchal. She is noted for her experimentation with new flavors and delicious, traditional cuisine with a twist. Her demonstrations are lively, informative and fun.

What you will see along the way:
A stroll through the Old Town, with its characteristic cobblestone streets and old facades, is an opportunity to glimpse its great architectural and historical value. In the center of the enclave is 15th-century Corpo Santo Chapel and one of the city's oldest streets, Rua de Santa Maria, which has been revitalized by Funchal's "Arte Portas Abertas" project, which commissioned local artists to turn old doorways into creative and colorful works of art.

A seafood dish, salad and dessert is a typical meal prepared by the chef, but the menu is determined by what the freshest ingredients are at the city market. No matter what's cooking, it will be artfully prepared and memorable. Learn the tricks of the trade during the hands-on demonstration and delight your friends when you recreate Madeira's succulent cuisine at home.
