This fascinating tour is perfect for anyone who is curious to learn more about the luxurious lifestyles of the British monarchy, and view living history at close quarters.

Your day-long adventure starts when you board your bus at Southampton Docks for a scenic guided drive through beautiful English countryside to the heart of picturesque Berkshire. As you get nearer to Windsor, you will be able to see the majestic castle rising above the River Thames in the distance, and the pretty town itself.

Understood to be one of Queen Elizabeth's favored residences, the castle was built after the Norman Invasion by William the Conquerer and is a true medieval wonder. Since the time of Henry I, it has been used by many monarchs and is the longest-occupied palace in Europe.

Your guide will lead you through the serene courtyard, which is flanked by St. George's Chapel, as you make your way to the breath-taking State Apartments. These elaborate rooms feature painted ceilings, panelled walls, large fireplaces, antique furniture and priceless paintings.

You will then wander through the ceremonial rooms which are used by the Queen to entertain visiting Heads of State, and also the beautiful 15th century St. George's Chapel, which took 51 years to build.

After your tour of the castle, you will have time to independently explore charming Windsor town, which boasts quaint Georgian shops, houses and inns. Here, you may wish to enjoy lunch in one of the many traditional pubs or modern cafes that line the streets. Be sure to check out the Guildhall building located on the High Street which was completed by Sir Christopher Wren in 1689, before boarding the bus for the relaxing journey back to port.
