What You Will Visit:
Koper Old Town:
With origins going as far back as the Roman era, Koper's lively old town center showcases its history in its architecture, in particular the influence of the Venetian Republic, which had the strongest impact on its design and heritage. This former walled town is entered through Muda Gate. Follow the two main streets, Čevljarska ulica which travels south to the Prešeren Square and the De Ponte Fountain, and Kidričeva ulica, which winds its way to the marina and Carpaccio Square.
Koper Regional Museum:
Housed in the baroque, early 17th-century Belgramoni Tacco Palace, the museum exhibits extensive collections from prehistory to the Venetian period through to modern history, taking you on a visual and inspiring tour of the development of Koper.
What You See Along the Way:
Titov Trg (square):
Stunning buildings surround this pedestrian-only center of the old town. Anchoring the square is Praetorian Palace, a stately reminder of Venetian dominance in the region, the Gothic Loggia built in 1463 where town debates were once held, and the Cathedral of Mary's Assumption with its a graceful bell tower.

Taverna Building:
Dominating Carpaccio Square, the Taverna Building was formerly the St. Marc salt warehouse. Salt production was a crucial industry along the Slovenian coast, with exploration of the salt pans dating back to the 1100s.
Cevljarska Ulica:
This narrow, old-world street takes you under the arch of the Praetorian Palace.

Snack:
At the completion of the tour, enjoy a light refreshment of local flavors served in a neighborhood café.

Special Notes:

This excursion involves extensive walking over uneven and cobbled surfaces. Not recommended for guests with limited mobility.

Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a hat.

Medical Restriction:

Guests must be able to walk over even and cobblestone surfaces and numerous steps at the Pretorian Palace (30 steps), the cathedral (2+ steps), and the museum (80 steps).
