Easy Port Sunlight & Cream Tea (Wheelchair Accessible)

After boarding your motorcoach you'll travel through Liverpool and cross the Mersey River for the brief drive to Port Sunlight. Tucked on the Wirral Peninsula, which overlooks the lush Welsh Hills, Port Sunlight is a walk into the past of Victorian and Edwardian England. Considered to be the finest surviving example of early urban planning, the 19th century village was built to house the factory workers who worked in the Lever Brothers soap factory.

Upon arriving in Port Sunlight you'll be guided towards the Museum, you'll no doubt be struck by its beauty, tranquillity, and unique character. The founder, William Hesketh Lever, employed 30 architects over the course of 80 years to build 900 buildings and design the grounds. What you see today are 130 acres of lush green landscapes and a charming mix of different architectural styles.

In the heart of the village sits the Museum. Inside, you'll discover a parlor room, state-of-the-art audio-visuals and interactive displays, a typical Port Sunlight house, and historical items from the village's past.

Then, you'll stroll to the Lady Lever Art Gallery to see some of the most beautiful collections of fine and decorative art in the UK. In his lifetime, Lever collected over 20,000 works of art and many are on display in the gallery, named for his wife. In addition to a vast collection of tapestries, sculpture, Wedgwood, Chinese porcelain, and furniture, the Gallery is home to a stunning collection of 18th and 19th paintings by Reynolds, Gainsborough, Turner, Constable, and other notable British artists.

At the end of your tour you're invited to sit down for a spot of tea at the Leverhulme Hotel. Originally the site of the village's hospital, today it's an Art Deco hotel popular for the quintessential English cream tea. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon over pots of tea and freshly baked scones, clotted cream and jam.

On your return trip to your ship, you'll travel back through the peninsula with views of the Liverpool skyline in the distance.
