Rainforest Walk
Costa Rica contains 5% of the earth's biodiversity. Lush and green year-round, it is home to an incredible abundance of flora and boasts more than 800 species of ferns and 9,000 species of blooming plants. Trees can grow up to 100 feet (30 meters) tall and offer shade and shelter to a wide variety of indigenous creatures. Costa Rica's fauna include over 850 types of birds, 200 species of mammals, 200 different reptiles and amphibians, and 10% of the world's butterflies. The trail is approximately 3/4 mile long and takes about 45 minutes at a slow pace. Keep your eyes open for monkeys, sloths, toucans and hummingbirds that conceal themselves within the branches. Look down to spot the red dart frog and other creatures that call this lush and biodiverse ecosystem home.

Tortuguero Canals
Board a jungle pontoon boat specially designed to cruise comfortably and quietly through the famed Tortuguero Canals, known as the Caribbean's Amazon due to the surrounding rainforest. The heavy annual rainfall nourishes the area with a wealth of flora and fauna. As you glide along the canals, you'll pass gorgeous orchids and water lilies. A knowledgeable guide will explain the rainforest ecosystem and point out sights of interest which are part of a river system that runs parallel to Costa Rica's Caribbean Coast.

What you will see along the way:
The province of Limón is prized for its vibrant Caribbean culture, stunning scenery and intricate waterways. As you travel by motorcoach, your guide will point out places of interest, quaint villages and fertile plantations. From your Tortuguero Canals, explore the wetlands ecosystem and wildlife, which might include howler monkeys, sloths, toucans and other exotic fauna and flora, including abundant birdlife such as egrets, belted kingfishers, and green and blue herons.

You'll have a little time to stop at a family gift shop for souvenirs.

Special Notes:

Tour sequence may vary. Minimum walking is required and is on a partially inclined trail. Bring along a hat, adequate sun protection, insect repellant, and a camera. Rain gear is recommended. Wildlife sightings, while common, are not guaranteed. The banana facility is not operational on Sundays and holidays and may suspend its operation without notice depending on its exportation schedule. Your guide will then explain how and why this fruit plays a major part in the country's economy.
