More than a century old, Aquiares estate is nestled in a picturesque valley, surrounded by lush rainforests and rolling mountains. A tour of the largest continous coffee farm in Costa Rica is an opportunity to learn the techniques for growing this valuable commodity. Begin with a harvesting demonstration on how Costa Ricans pick the ripe fruit, called "cherries", following a centuries-old technique to ensure the best quality. Enjoy the breathtaking views from the 'mirador' of this Rainforest Alliance certified estate. The milling process follows, and the cherries are sorted, peeled, fermented and sun dried. After roasting, you'll enjoy the finished product: a freshly brewed cup of Costa Rican coffee. After your immersion into the word of coffee, you will take a few steps to the historic Aquiares church for free time to stroll the interior and gardens.

What you will see along the way:
Gaze out the window of your air-conditioned motorcoach on an approximately two-hour narrated drive along one of the most picturesque highways in Costa Rica, enjoying the colorful vistas of quaint villages, fertile plantations and ever-changing landscapes along the way.

Special Notes:

Light clothes and comfortable shoes are recommended. There are over 200 steps to reach the 'mirador' lookout spot as an optional hike and a few stairs to descend at the coffee mill.
