What you will visit:

Bay View Farm
Coffee beans have been grown in this region since 1828. The nutrient-rich volcanic soil of Kona as well as the island's elevation and climate create ideal conditions for growing flavorful, quality coffee. Locally owned and operated Bay View Farm, a working 24-acre coffee farm nestled on the slopes of Mauna Loa volcano, has been proudly producing 100% pure Kona coffee since 1984. A tour of the estate reveals how the entire process of producing coffee is performed and introduces the distinctive flavors of Kona's legendary brews.

Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Historic Park
The name Pu'uhonua O Honaunau translates to "Place of Refuge at Honaunau." This enchanting cultural site is a lovingly restored ancient Hawaiian religious sanctuary. Built in 1650, the "Place of Refuge" originally housed the bones of Hawaiian chiefs. It later became a place of sanctuary for outlaws and defeated warriors. Highlights in this national historic park are the great Ki'i figures guarding the temple, the spectacular flora and fauna, and the sense of peace and tranquility that echoes through the area.

Kealakekua Bay
A high-speed Zodiac ride brings you to this historic bay where Captain Cook's infamous encounter with the Hawaiians led to his tragic end. Beyond its historical renown, Kealakekua Bay is one of Hawaii's best snorkeling spots. At this marine preserve, you will receive a brief orientation to the area and a snorkeling lesson with gear provided. The warm, crystalline waters offer fantastic views of rainbow-hued tropical fish and colorful corals.

What you will see along the way:
James Cook is among the most famous British explorers and prolific cartographers of all time. Sailing thousands of previously uncharted miles around the globe, Captain Cook met his tragic end right here on Hawaii Island. Following in the great explorer's tracks, you'll be treated to views of white-sand beaches, lush green foliage and dramatic lava formations along the Kona coastline. Located on the youngest and largest of the Hawaiian Islands, the "Big Island," the Kona coast offers infinite scenic beauty.

Photo Opportunity:

St. Benedict's Painted Church
The showpiece of this historic house of worship is its colorful interior, decorated with dramatic murals painted by Father John Berchmans Velghe, a Belgian priest. Without any artistic training, the priest beautified the church with paintings that he drew to help teach the Hawaiians to read. This lovely church has a latticework entry and is noted for its charming bell tower.

Captain Cook Monument
Standing on the only sliver of British land in the United States, the Captain Cook Monument, erected in 1874 on the shores of Kealakekua Bay, is reachable only by rugged foot trail or by water. The Zodiac is able to get you close enough to the landmark for spectacular photographs.

Lunch:
A deli sandwich lunch is served on board after your snorkeling adventure.

Special Notes:

Minimum age is 5 years and maximum weight is 275 lbs. Comfortable closed-toe walking shoes required. Participants must be able to swim and walk over uneven surfaces. Guests suffering from neck, back or heart conditions are not allowed to participate.
