WHAT YOU VISIT
Monet's Garden Marmottan
Impressionist Claude Monet's deep interest in Japanese artwork and culture was reflected throughout his farmhouse in Giverny, France. And his acclaimed garden has been replicated here within a seven-acre landscape. In the Flower Garden you'll find approximately 70,000 flowers and plants that change with the seasons. The Water Garden features a taiko bridge arched over a pond, Japanese wisteria trellis, willow and bamboo trees, and a selection of water lilies. The Light Garden is based on Monet's expedition to the Mediterranean Sea and includes palm trees, olive trees and other exotic flowers and plants.

Kochi Prefectural Makino Botanical Garden
Located near the summit of Mt. Godaisan, this lovely park boasts 3,000 kinds of plants. Dedicated to Kochi-born Dr. Tomitaro Makino, the "Father of Japanese Botany," the 14-acre garden forms a green oasis above the city, bay, and plains of rice fields.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
Among the water lilies, reflecting ponds and blankets of glorious flowers at Monet's Garden Marmottan, one of the more distinctive highlights is the Japanese taiko bridge. Identical to the one that Monet built in Giverny in 1883, the bridge stretches over a pond that's filled with water lilies.

LUNCH
Enjoy a Western-style lunch prepared with local products at a local restaurant. (JTB Note: In order for us to be able to increase allotments, we would like to keep the restaurant unspecified.)/
