WHAT YOU VISIT
Bike & Hike Adventure
Your first stop is the outfitters where you'll pick up a mountain bike and put on a helmet and rain gear. After a few safety instructions, you'll follow your experienced trail guide along a gently sloped, historic three-mile-long trail through the Tongass National Forest. While riding under a canopy of Sitka spruce and western hemlock trees, you may see Sitka black-tailed deer feeding on the native hemlock, berries, and lichens. Soon, you'll reach a rustic creek-side camp and after fireside refreshments, take off on a guided nature walk along an active salmon spawning stream.
PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
The nature hike offers plenty of memorable photos. Among this hiker's paradise, your guide will share his knowledge of the forest's flora and fauna including the sundew, a carnivorous plant that uses tentacles with an adhesive "dew" to ensnare small insects.
SNACKS
Enjoy a snack at the picturesque riverside camp set along a salmon stream (when salmon are running).
WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
Marvel at the awesome splendor that surrounds you-the Tongass National Forest is home to lush, rain-soaked mosses, lichens, shrubs, and ferns sheltering beneath enormous coniferous trees.
