Spend a day savoring the bounty of the 105 acres of the historic Kilohana Plantation & Estate. Your exclusive, VIP-guided "Adventurous Foodies" tour takes you to this magnificent site, the only remaining sugar estate plantation on the island of Kauai.

Your delightful, half-day adventure begins when you meet your personal escort at the pier and settle in for a short shuttle ride to Kilohana. Along the way, you'll learn more about the rich history and dramatic flora and fauna that are right outside your window. As you approach the plantation, you'll hear about its humble beginnings and how it grew to become one of the island's premier visitor destinations.

Your adventure begins by viewing and exploring the beauty & bounty of Kilohana Plantation. You'll learn about the more than 50 varieties of exotic fruit, including pineapple, banana, papaya, mango, star fruit, avocadoes, and a lot more, that are grown on the fertile land. You will get a firsthand look as travel through the orchard in an air-conditioned van. Your escort will find the perfect spot for you to step off the shuttle and into a fragrant orchard. Then, gather under a tent and relax as your guide demonstrates his culinary skills, cutting and preparing the freshest fruit platter you've ever tasted! Super sweet pineapples, apples, bananas, sunrise papaya, fresh mint and tangy lime make a concoction that's pure Hawaiian heaven. Fruits may vary depending on season.

Refreshed, you will then reboard your shuttle and continue your exploration of Hawaiian taro fields & low land forest as you drive to the stately Manor House. The Manor House, built in 1935, was the home of sugar baron Gaylord Wilcox. Interestingly, the home sprawls over 16,000 square feet but has only four bedrooms. Today, it serves as a living museum with beautiful shops and galleries as well as a courtyard restaurant and the popular MahiKo Lounge, your next stop of the day.

In the MahiKo Lounge, you'll have the opportunity to see how fresh sugarcane is extracted from the press. It's the secret ingredient used in the award-winning Koloa Rum and what makes a Kilohana Signature Koloa Rum Mai Tai so special. Observe the resident expert mixologist as he creates your personal mai tai for your pleasure and enjoyment. One is included with the tour, but they are so yummy you may want to purchase another!

To accompany your cocktail, a selection of Kilohana's appetizers, known in the islands as "pupus," is served. The menu has something for everyone, comprised of local flavors fresh from the farms and enjoyed throughout Hawaii.

After your very happy hour, enjoy free time to discover the shops and galleries of the Manor House. Popular venues are the Train Depot Store, which specializes in Kauai-made products, the Koloa Rum Company Store so you can make your own signature mai tais back home, and Clayworks, for locally made handicrafts. You are also welcome to explore the beautiful grounds and enjoy the sunshine.

Say aloha and mahalo to your hosts and relax on the picturesque ride back to port.
