Experience the magnificent Mendenhall Glacier and Lake from two unique perspectives. From downtown Juneau you'll travel into the picturesque Mendenhall Valley and disembark on the shores of Mendenhall Lake with you experienced guide. After a shore hike through the Tongass National Forest, you'll receive paddlng instructions and step into your twelve-person canoe. Once you push off into the sparkling water, you'll paddle past glowing blue icebergs of all shapes and sizes that have broken off of the glacier. Keep your eyes open for the Arctic tern nesting cliffs, and giant waterfalls en route to the glacier. When you reach your landing point at the glacier's beach, you'll trade in your paddles for trekking poles. Following your guide, you'll venture towards the glacier's edge. Discover Mendenhall's natural history as you hike over the rocky terrain carved by the glacier. Get an up close and intimate perspective of the glacier from the edge, while learning about glacier dynamics and the breathtaking and ever-changing ice feautes.
