Focus on Juneau's two most popular activities on one exciting excursion. The itinerary is personalized and kept flexible in order to allow for the unexpected events that often become the highlights of the experience. A small group limited to 14 will follow a naturalist photography guide to Mendenhall Glacier for a walk along a trail in the Steep Creek area. Along the way, you'll see beaver dams, salmon streams and remarkable glacier panoramas - sites that inspire stunning images. Your excursion continues when you board a 34-foot covered exploration vessel, specially built to get you up close to the natural environment and custom designed for photography expeditions. Observe a variety of marine wildlife in these nutrient-rich waters of Stephens Passage. You will receive a partial refund if a whale is not sighted on the trip during peak season.

Special Notes:

The operator of this tour guarantees that a whale will be sighted on this excursion May 15 through September 15 or participants will receive $100 from the tour operator. To follow best practices in responsible and sustainable tourism, no guarantee is offered prior to May 15 of after September 15; however, the whale-sighting success rate is highly likely.

Guests should expect to walk approximately .75 miles on an improved paved and gravel trail with some steps. Dress warmly in layers. Tour operates in all weather conditions. Group size is limited to 14 guests. Tour order may vary. Everyone receives a frame-able postcard with instructions to access exclusive online photography tutorials, slideshows, historical images and a printable tip sheet. All content is free and downloadable to any device. Bring your camera, plenty of film or digital capacity, and spare batteries. All tour participants are eligible to enter to win cash and prizes in the tour operator's Capture Juneau Photo Contest.
