What You Visit:

Mendenhall Glacier & Whale Watching Photography Tour
Join a small group in capturing the wonders of Alaska, from spectacular glaciers to guaranteed whale sightings on a photography excursion lead by a professional instructor. Local photographer Cam Byrnes used 15 years of guiding experience to help craft a personalized and informative excursion. From a guided walk at the Mendenhall Glacier to specifically designed safari vessels you'll receive expert natural-history interpretation while picking up tips and techniques to enhance your images.

Your first destination is a walk through the Steep Creek area to a series of breathtaking lookouts of the Mendenhall Glacier. Then, you'll board a 34-foot covered exploration vessel in search of whales in the waterways of Stephens Passage. This boat is specially designed to get you up close to the natural environment, instrumental for natural, wildlife photography. You'll receive a $100 cash refund from the tour operator at the conclusion of the tour if a whale is not sighted on the trip.

Photo Opportunity:
Bring your camera and get ready to capture that magical moment worth a thousand words. A gentle walk along the Steep Creek area reveals beaver dams, salmon streams and remarkable glacier panoramas.

Snack:
Enjoy a granola bar, mixed nuts, fruit leather, Peppermint Patty or chocolate mint, and bottled water during your adventure.

What You See Along The Way:
As you cruise the waters of Stephens Passage, you may see humpback whales, sea lions, orcas, harbor seals, porcupines, eagles, salmon and even black bears.
