Disembark your cruise ship in Honolulu Harbor and let the beauty of Hawaii's "Gathering Place" inspire new adventure. The perfect way to immerse yourself in the wonder is to choose this easy, scenic island tour traveling from Waikiki and Diamond Head to the windswept Pali Coast and beyond.
Board your air-conditioned motorcoach at the pier for a scenic journey no Oahu visitor should miss. Sit back and relax as your enthusiastic guide narrates the passing sights of Ala Moana Boulevard. Meaning Path to the Sea in Hawaiian, Ala Moana stretches from Honolulu Harbor to Waikiki and is home to the Ala Moana Shopping Center, once the largest mall in the United States and today the largest open-air shopping center in the world!
Soon you'll be traveling along Kala'kaua Avenue through the Waikiki Beach resort area and in full view of the unique profile of Diamond Head, Hawaii's most recognized landmark. This broad, saucer-shaped crater was formed about 300,000 years ago during a single, explosive eruption and a trail to the summit was built in 1908 as part of O'ahu's coastal defense system.
Up ahead you'll marvel at crescent-shaped Hanauma Bay, a protected marine sanctuary and a favorite place for snorkeling and swimming. The narrow road continues to circle the island winding through rugged rock cliffs stratified during former volcanic activity. You'll meander past Sandy Beach and venture through the Hawaiian homestead district of Waimanalo, enjoying dramatic views of land and sea all along the way.
Continue along the coast line and experience the dazzling views from the Pali Lookout, where you can get out and stretch your legs. Be sure to bring along your camera for the much photographed backdrop of Oahu's windward coast and take note of the local history which states that it was here that King Kamehameha defeated Oahu's native clans driving thousands of his enemies off the cliffs in 1795!
Upon completion of this tour, you would have experienced the coastline and many of Oahu's most notable sights.
