What you will visit:
Beaumaris
The seaside town of Beaumaris displays a wonderfully idyllic mix of medieval, Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian architecture. The well-preserved castle town boasts medieval fortified walls, old inns, elegant townhouses, churches and chapels. A stroll through the charming streets reveals quaint cottages painted in confectionary colors. The lively atmosphere brims with cafes and restaurants as well as exceptional shopping, with boutiques showcasing the best of local artisans and traders.

Beaumaris Castle
Construction on Beaumaris, the last of the eight great fortresses known as the Ring of Iron, was begun in 1295 but was never completed, as money and resources dwindled at the end of Edward 1's reign. Considered technically perfect and completely state of the art in 13th-century times, the castle features four lines of defense in the form of concentric, overlapping "walls within walls." The entire population of a local town was relocated to make room for this remarkable feat of engineering.

What you will see along the way:
En route to the stunning Beaumaris Castle, enjoy an approximately 45-minute scenic drive across Anglesey to the Menai Strait, past Llanfair PG, the town with a 56-letter name, and on to the seaside resort of Beaumaris, located on the eastern end of the island.
