What you will visit:

Bruny Island
Located off the southeastern coast of Tasmania, Bruny has been described as a pocket-size version of Tasmania. It possesses abundant wildlife and is a sanctuary for many endangered species of birds, including the rare forty-spotted pardalote and the swift parrot. The island has become a gourmet destination with flourishing food and wine industries set against the stunning backdrop of dramatic sea cliffs, pristine beaches and lush rainforests.

Nature Walk (optional)
The afternoon rounds out at an enjoyable pace. Those wanting a light walk on the beach may stroll the shores at Adventure Bay; those feeling a little more energetic can wander the slightly longer trail, one of Tasmania's great short walks, to Grassy Point with views of the famous fluted cape.

What you will see along the way:
Set out from Hobart, the capital of Tasmania and gateway to remote Bruny Island. You'll transfer to Kettering, an atmospheric harbor full of yachts and fishing vessels, to board the ferry for the scenic 15-minute crossing to Bruny Island, just enough time to take in the spectacular lush hills, golden sands and rocky coves set against azure-blue waters.

Photo Opportunity:
Bruny Island Neck Lookout Point
Your first stop is the neck lookout to enjoy the views of the narrow isthmus stretching in graceful curves. The picturesque isthmus of Bruny Island Neck connects the northern and southern parts of the island and is home to elusive fairy penguins that sleep in the sand dunes. Make your way up the timber stairs to the Neck Lookout, which offers stunning 360-degree views of the sea and sand. Take a stroll along the deserted white-sand beach and enjoy local sightseeing afterwards.

Lunch/Tastings:
Delights for your taste buds await at the Bruny Island Cruises seafood restaurant. This is a rare chance to savor the clean, briny flavor of oysters straight from the sea. Start with a taste of freshly shucked local oysters, then indulge in the freshest local premium fish, served with a crisp salad and chips alongside a glass of local wine, artisan beer or cider. In addition to lunch, enjoy tastings of delicately handcrafted local fudge and a nip of Tasmanian whisky or gin.

Shopping:
You'll also have time to shop for local arts, crafts, gifts or perhaps a bottle of the local whisky or gin at the Visitor Center.
