With its magnificent mountain ranges, sparkling coastlines and carpets of rice fields, Vietnam is a wonder to behold. With a culture that is both quaint and exotic and countryside villages that preserve a quieter place and time, a half-day adventure that takes you off the beaten track is the perfect way to discover all it has to offer.

Board your comfortable motorcoach and set off to Ba Ria town, one of the country's prettiest enclaves. You'll travel along lush landscapes and picture-perfect vistas and upon arrival will embark on a scenic orientation drive. You'll also visit the neighborhood marketplace for a true sense of the local color and how the villagers live.

Continue driving to Long Dien, where you will visit the Long Phuoc Tunnels, which run almost two miles to the Village of Long Tan. Built by the Viet Minh and Viet Cong and concealed by the natural vegetation, this underground complex will be revealed to you by following your guide, who now takes visitors through such areas as the kitchen and bedrooms. The dark and narrow tunnels have been cemented to make it a little easier to maneuver in the area.

Then proceed to Nui Dat and Long Tan Cross, a remembrance of the Australian soldiers who fought and lost there lives here during the war. In August 1966, one of the most significant Australian engagements in the Vietnam War was the Battle of Long Tan. This memorial, etched in polished granite, depicts a platoon of Australian soldiers about to board a helicopter and was erected by the 6th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment in August 1969.

After paying your respects, return to the motorcoach and relax on the ride back to port, chatting with your fellow travelers about all that you have seen and experienced on this memorable day.
