Enjoy a full day trip filled with History of Iwakuni.
First, visit the symbol of Iwakuni, Kintai-kyo Bridge Measuring about 200 meters in length and 5 meters in width, this wooden quintuple arched bridge is a unique non-nailed assembly of timbers and known as one of Japan's three greatest bridges.
Adjacent to Kintai Bridge is Kikko Park, once the residence of the daimyo Kikkawa, who initiated the construction of the bridge. The plaster-walled buildings are fine examples of traditional residences built by the Samurai class.
Enjoy a cable car ride to Iwakuni Castle, and breathtaking views of the city below and Iwakuni Kintai visible from the summit station of the ropeway.
Iwakuni Castle was built in 1608, at the beginning of the Edo Period. The site of the castle was chosen for its natural defensive advantages on top of Mount Shiroyama and half surrounded by a natural moat, the Nishiki River.
You'll enjoy Japanese food for lunch at a local Hotel or local restaurant, where you can relax and refuel before you go back to the pier by coach.
