Hilo Coffee Mill
Some of the richest, best coffee is produced on the Big Island. Founded in 2001, Hilo Coffee Mill is nestled on 24 beautiful acres. The family-run coffee plantation utilizes sustainable farming methods and grows this superb Hawaiian product. It was developed to help local coffee farmers produce and market their valuable crops to the world.

Akatsuka Orchid Gardens
Established in 1974, Akatsuka Orchid Gardens is one of the world's leading cultivators of cattleya orchids, and more than 500 blooms are on display in huge greenhouses. You'll learn about the cutting-edge breeding practices used to produce such stunning specimens as well as cultivation and care tips for this exquisite flower.

Punalu'u Black Sand Beach
Lined with swaying coconut palm trees, Punalu'u is one of the best black-sand beaches on the island. Stroll along the shoreline and look for honu (green Hawaiian sea turtles) feeding just offshore or sun-worshipping on the sand.

The Volcano Winery
The only vineyard on the Big Island, and the southernmost winery in the United States, Volcano Winery skillfully blends tropical fruits and berries with traditional grapes to produce a rich and vibrant bouquet. At 4,000 feet above sea level and nourished by volcanic soil and the island's delightful climate, this family-owned vineyard has been in operation since 1986, producing award-winning wines. The addition of tea production has added tea infusions to its specialty line of wines.

What you will see along the way:
The landscape of the Big Island ranges from black-sand beaches to tropical rainforests to the alpine terrain of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea. At 13,796 feet above sea level, the summit of Mauna Kea is the highest point in the entire Pacific basin.

Photo Opportunities:
Along the way, take a moment to stretch your legs and focus your cameras on either Rainbow Falls, an 80-foot cascade
surrounded by tropical flora, or the neighboring Boiling Pots, where the river rushes through lava tubes.

Boiling Pots
Impressive photo opportunities are often found here when the Wailuku River "boils" through depressions in the rocks known as
lava tubes causing a "boiling," Jacuzzi-like effect.

Rainbow Falls
Follow the Wailuku River to Rainbow Falls, an iconic waterfall featuring an 80-foot-tall cascade surrounded by tropical flora. Look for the rainbow effect produced by the spray that gives the waterfall its name.

Lunch:
At the Volcano Winery, you'll sample different types of wines followed by a hearty Hawaiian-style BBQ lunch.

Shopping:
Hawaiian macadamia nuts, local crafts and products, Kona coffee and more are found in a local souvenir shop. Additional shopping opportunities can be enjoyed at the Akatsuka Orchid Gardens.
