Your adventure begins with a trip back in time, as an interpretive guide narrates the history of Hilo on a drive along the historic waterfront to the gulch behind Honoli'i Beach Park, one of the island most popular surf breaks, where a hidden waterfall lies right beneath the road.

Continue your journey to the soak in the views of Hilo's world-famous Rainbow Falls. Watch as the water plunges down the Wailuku River to the towering 80' waterfall and cascades over the rock cliffs and lava cave into the pool below. As you take in the jungle surroundings and peaceful settings hopefully you can catch a glimpse of an "anu'u" or rainbow in the falls' mist.

Leaving the falls, we'll break out our flashlights and drop down into the depths of Kaumana Cave, a lava tube that once served as a pipeline for volcanic lava to travel down the mountain.

On the return back into Hilo town make a tasty stop at Big Island Candies; known for their vast array of chocolate-dipped confections and locally produced coffee. Enjoy an opportunity for samples and to shop at the gift store.

Finally we'll finish up with a stroll down Richardson's Beach, a beautiful black sand cove that serves as a sanctuary for the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle.

Special Notes:

Minimum age is 8. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian. This tour is not available to pregnant women. Tour operates rain or shine - but may be cancelled due to extreme weather conditions.

This active shore excursion is designed for physically fit guests. This tour involves walking over uneven terrain. Guests have the option to negotiate an almost vertical staircase of 20 steps.

Wear comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes. Bring a hat and sun protection.
