Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.

Hawaiians have long known that the preservation of their natural resources is essential to maintaining their quality of life. Dedicated to environmental stewardship, the local farming communities produce a bounty of organic and natural products. Your six-hour adventure takes you to several sustainability innovators along the island's scenic roadways en route to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

Board your comfortable passenger van and enjoy a 45- minute drive to your first venue, a family-owned orchid farm. Hilo is the orchid capital of the world, and at this aromatic establishment you'll learn about the cutting-edge breeding practices used to produce such stunning specimens. Tour environmentally controlled greenhouses, and photograph these delicate blooms, some of the finest quality plants you'll ever see.

Continue on to the only vineyard on the Big Island, Volcano Winery. Here, tropical fruits and berries are skillfully blended with traditional grapes to produce a rich and vibrant bouquet. At 4,000 feet above sea level and nourished by volcanic soil and the island's delightful climate, this family-owned vineyard has been in operation since 1986, producing award-wining wines such as their signature Symphony Mele, Blush, Guava Wine, Volcano Red, and Macadamia Nut Honey Wine, a sweet-after dinner treat. The addition of tea production has added tea infusions to their specialty line of wines. There are also black, white and green tea leaves for brewing a cup of relaxation. Be sure to try the special Silver Needle tea. Harvested only once a year, it is produced from the youngest tea-leaf buds. A Hawaiian-style BBQ is waiting for you after your winery tour.

Refreshed, reboard your transport and continue on to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore with your park ranger-trained guide and stop at various lookout points to take in the panoramic views of the park's major sights. The otherworldly landscapes dazzle with twisted lava rock flows, sulfur banks and lava beds.

At the completion of this memorable day, return to the pier with a greater understanding of the Big Island's great natural beauty and abundance.
