Indulge in a half-day, moderately active guided excursion to learn the secrets of distilling Scotland's famous single malt whiskies. Board your motorcoach at the pier in Greenock, then sit back and enjoy an hour-long scenic drive through the beautiful Scottish landscape. Journey through the historic Blane River Valley (named for Saint Blane) as well as the lovely Campsie Hills.

Your destination is the Glengoyne Distillery in Dumgoyne, a quaint whisky distillery that has been continuously in operation since its founding in 1833. Located upon the Highland Line, the division between the Highlands and Lowlands of Scotland, Glengoyne is unique in producing Highland single malt whisky matured in the Lowlands.

Your tour of the distillery begins with a dram of 12 year old Glengoyne in the Reception Room. There you will view a fascinating and informative video on whisky production. You are then whisked off to discover the secrets of Scotland's slowest whisky distillation at this stunning, quirky wee gem of a place.

Learn about the traditional methods and basic ingredients (barley, water and yeast) that have been used to make scotch whisky for over 500 years. Then discover Glengoyne's unique process of using air-dried barley in the production of its whisky as opposed to barley dried by peat fires used by most distilleries. The result is a more subtle, complex whisky in which all of the delicate flavors are freely allowed to express themselves. It is no wonder then, that Glengoyne's single malts have been praised by generations of connoisseurs.

Following your tour, you will have the thrilling opportunity to indulge in a complimentary taste of Glengoyne's 18-year-old single malt whisky! Then take time to visit the distillery's gift shop to browse for souvenirs and survey the vast selection of single malts available for purchase prior to boarding your motorcoach for your scenic drive back to your ship.
