Board your air-conditioned motorcoach and travel across the capital of the Batavia Coast on a narrated drive. Your first stop will be the HMAS Sydney Memorial. The monument features a stele in the shape of a ship's prow, while 645 metal seagulls represent the lost crew. The site was dedicated in 1998, and famed sculptor Joan Walsh Smith created the domed memorial. Travel to the St. Francis Xavier Cathedral for a visit. This ornate cathedral was designed by architect-priest Monsignor John Cyril Hawes in 1915, and completed in 1933. From the Cathedral, travel to the Western Australia Museum. This modern museum celebrates the rich heritage of the people of Western Australia. The museum's exhibits chronicle the region's history from the Aboriginal past to the present. Return to the ship with new gained knowledge of Geraldton's colourful history.
