One thousand years of history unfold before you during this active, full-day excursion to explore the fabled city of Gdansk. See the city's Westerplatte peninsula, where a German warship fired on a garrison, heralding the start of WWII. Drive past the home of Lech Walesa, co-founder of the Solidarity movement. Take a guided walk of Main Town to see a 16th-century arch, a 13th-century merchant road, a 15th-century palace and the iconic Neptune's Fountain. Tour St. Mary's Basilica, the world's largest brick church. Enjoy free time to shop for souvenirs including amber jewelry. Drive to the newly-opened European Solidarity Centre next to the Shipyard, which is home to Solidarity Square. Here you will receive an informative tour of the Roads To Freedom Exhibition - featuring a collection of multimedia displays and artifacts depicting Poland's turbulent path to democracy.
