What you will visit:
Vagar
Vagar is the third largest and one of the westernmost islands in the Faroe Islands. With a shape that resembles the head of a dog, this rugged island boasts the area's only airport and is connected to the two largest islands by an undersea tunnel.
Bour
Bour is a village in Vagar. Though tiny in size, it is rich in legend. According to local lore, a hidden reef known as Eiriksboði was named after a property dispute resulted in one brother killing another. The surviving sibling, Eirikur, was killed by a great wave after sailing home from begging forgiveness through the bishop for his crimes.
What you will see along the way:
The narrow streets of Torshavn wind past charming turf-topped cottages, rising up a gentle slope from the bustling harbor. The placid water is home to small boats and yachts moored near passenger ships and giant merchant ships that bring goods to the area. Leave Torshavn behind and travel via Kaldbakfjord and the Kollafjord Valley and through the underwater tunnel to Vagar Island with its lush emerald-green hills, red and white church and quaint villages.
Photo Opportunities:
Sandavágur Church
Built in 1917 and sporting a distinctive red roof, this church boasts uniquely painted interior walls and is home to the 13th-century runestone bearing an inscription from a Norwegian traveler who is believed to have been the first settler in the area.
Torshavn Viewpoint
The charming village spreads out below the hillside, offering views of the narrow winding streets, colorful turf-topped houses and the sparkling harbor below.
