WHAT YOU VISIT
- Good Hope Estate Great House
Dating back to 1774, the 2,000-acre sugar plantation has been meticulously restored to its original splendor and offers a look at colonial living in the 18th century. Once known as the "the jewel of the Caribbean," Good Hope's interior is graced with a treasure trove of paintings, antiques and authentically restored rooms. Explore the sprawling grounds and discover remnants of the once-successful sugar plantation such as the old kiln and wheel, and the serene beauty of the Martha Brae River.
PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
Every angle of this beautiful 18th century Georgian mansion is picture perfect. Wander around the estate and revel in the unparalleled views that have remained untouched since Col. Thomas Williams built Good Hope for his wife, Elizabeth in in 1755.
SHOPPING
Good Hope is also the home to the Trading House, the the only store of its kind in the Caribbean that offers Jamaican-made art, carvings, books and souvenirs.
LUNCH
One of the joys of foreign travel is discovering new cuisine. After a tour of the estate you're invited to sit down for an authentic Jamaican lunch. The buffet includes a number of local favorites including rice and peas, jerked chicken, escoveitched fish, and fried plantains. A Sweet treat completes your authentic Jamaican meal.
WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
After a drive through the bustling and colorful streets of Falmouth your driver will head south into the lush and picturesque countryside surrounded by the Cockpit Mountains.
