WHAT YOU VISIT
Greenwood Great House
Acclaimed as a National Heritage Site, the lovely estate appears much the same as it did when Edward Barrett (whose family established and owned most of the nearby town of Falmouth) lived here over 200 years ago. Much of the original furniture fills the well-preserved library, kitchen and grand ballroom with paintings, custom-made Wedgwood china and rare collection of musical instruments offering a look at the well-to-do-life on an 18th century sugar plantation.
PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
The Barretts' seventy-foot veranda commands a panoramic view of the ocean (you can practically see the earth curve from this unique vantage point).
WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
Falmouth's 18th century Georgian architecture reflects its status as a once-flourishing port of call for sugar ships. During your sightseeing tour you'll see churches, renovated wooden shop-fronts along Water Square, the Old Courthouse and historic homes. Leaving town, you'll travel along Jamaica's North Coast to Greenwood Great House.
