Spend the day getting to know two of Dunedin's most popular institutions. A scenic drive from Port Chalmers takes you to Speight's Brewery for an award-winning, interactive tour. Fondly called the "Pride of the South," Speight's has been a legend since 1876. During the tour, you'll see, smell, touch, and taste the ingredients that go into Speight's beers and learn how the traditional brewing process has transformed local life. Later, enjoy a sampling of Speight's beers before your delicious two-course pub lunch. Following lunch, you'll visit the Otago Museum. Like most of New Zealand, Dunedin is steeped in fascinating Mâori legend. Your guide will share stories about the Maori of Te Waipounamu and Otago's early European settlers. Then, you'll have some free time to delve into the South Island's prehistoric natural and cultural history, admiring fossils and prehistoric artifacts including ten articulated skeletons of moa, a now-extinct giant flightless bird.
