Description

Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.

Departing from your ship, you'll begin your adventure with a scenic 60-minute motorcoach ride along the Dalmatian Coast. This part of the "Dubrovnik Riviera" is split into 32 villages, and is filled with beautiful contrasts--mountains and valleys, green hills and naked stone.

You'll arrive in Poljica, a small village that dates back to the Middle Ages. Here you'll visit the country home of the Glavic Family, a beautiful estate that typifies the Konavle style. The family has lived here for generations, and until 1991, produced grape brandy, olive oil and wine before opening their home to visitors. They will happily show you around the grounds and tell you how they produced their products. After your short tour, you'll get to be their guest, enjoying a delicious homemade lunch accompanied by some charming entertainment.

After your morning of Croatian hospitality, you'll return to your motorcoach for the scenic ride back to Dubrovnik. Once there, you'll have the opportunity to spend some free time exploring the beautiful ancient walled city of Dubrovnik, which is surrounded by medieval ramparts that encircle a maze of narrow cobbled streets.

Dubrovnik dates back over a thousand years. It was known as the Republic of Ragusa before it was overthrown by Napoleon in 1808. As you approach the old city, you'll notice the stone ramparts that encircle it. These city walls were built in the 13th century to protect this port, whichc once rivaled Venice in importance. As you enter, you'll immediately notice the city's wide marble pedestrian walkway, the Stradun (Placa). It's been the town's central thoroughfare since the 11th century. You'll also see the circular 15th-century Onofrio Fountain, named after its Neapolitan builder. Even today it's still a popular meeting place. You'll have an hour of free time to shop and discover the many wonderful historic places in this UNESCO World Heritage Site before it's time to return to your motorcoach and to your ship.
