This three-and-a-half-hour tour is the perfect way to appreciate the beauty and the culture of Dubrovnik and the Dalmatian Coast. You'll begin with a motorcoach ride that offers spectacular panoramic views of the city nicknamed the "Pearl of the Adriatic." After a brief stop for photos, you'll continue your scenic ride to the lovely town of Cavtat on the Dalmatian Coast.

This seaside resort village, pronounced "tsavtat," was founded by the Greeks in the 6th century B.C. In the modern era, it's been the exclusive retreat for wealthy Croatians (many of whom built mansions there), as well as a thriving hub for working artists. But now, as you will see, people from all over the world come to wander the cobbled streets with traditional red-roofed brownstone houses. Delight in the breathtaking views and enjoy its history and romance--Edward VIII and Mrs. Wallis Simpson honeymooned here. After a brief orientation and light refreshments, you're free to spend the next 45 minutes exploring the many cafes, shops and sites on your own.

You'll then return to your motorcoach for a picturesque 45-minute drive through the Konavle region towards Dubrovnik and Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Dubrovnik dates back over a thousand years. It was known as the Republic of Ragusa before it was overthrown by Napoleon in 1808. As you approach the old city, you'll notice the stone ramparts that encircle it. These city walls were built in the 13th century to protect this port, which once rivaled Venice in importance. Your point of entry is the protective 15th-century Ploce Gate.

Upon your arrival, follow your guide to the winter cinema Sloboda. This collection of 15th-century buildings once held quarantined travelers; now they host an arts center for the city. While you're here you'll enjoy a colorful folkloric performance of Croatian dance and music.

After the show you'll take a leisurely walk through Old Town to what many consider its main entrance - Pile Gate. You'll see the stone bridge ends at another bridge that features a wooden drawbridge. Above them and over the arch is a statue of city patron St. Blaise (Sv. Vlaho). Sharp eyes will have noticed there was another statue of St. Blaise above the Ploce Gate as well. It's here where you'll conclude your memorable tour, returning to your motorcoach for the 10-minute ride back to your ship.

For tours that offer more in-depth exploration with actual visits to one or more sites, see the other options in this port.
