Description

Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.

Dublin is the capital of the Irish Republic and home to over 1 ¼ million people, one third of the population of the Republic of Ireland. In addition to its splendid public buildings, Dublin is particularly rich in domestic architecture of the 18th Century. Fine Georgian mansions, many of them with historical associations, lend sober beauty to the city's wide streets and spacious squares.

Departing from the pier, you will soon pass The Customs House, located on the north bank of the River Liffey. It was designed by James Gandon and completed in 1791. Crossing the River Liffey to Dublin's south side, you will pass The Old Parliament House, now the Bank of Ireland, and Trinity College. Founded in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth 1, it is Ireland's oldest college. Located in its Library is the world famous Book of Kells, a hand illuminated manuscript of the Gospels.

Your tour of the city will continue passing the National Gallery of Ireland and Government Buildings. Next, a stop will be made for you to photograph the world famous Doorways of Dublin, located on Fitzwilliam Square. You will pass Dublin Castle, City Hall, Christchurch Cathedral and St. Patrick's Cathedral. Founded in 1190, St. Patrick's is perhaps best known for its association with Jonathan Swift, who was Dean here from 1713 to 1745. A photo stop will be made here to photograph this impressive structure.

Travel past the Guinness Brewery, home of the famous Black Stuff before reaching Phoenix Park, Europe's largest enclosed public park. Here you will see the homes of Ireland's President and American Ambassador. (Emergency restrooms available in Phoenix Park) Driving along the North Bank of the River Liffey again, you will pass The Four Courts, Ireland's courts of justice before returning to Dublin Port and your awaiting ship.
