WHAT YOU VISIT
Touna Aute Carib Native Village
From the pier, you'll travel to the native community of Touna Aute, an authentic, living village of indigenous Kalinago. Once you arrive, the community leader, a former Kalinago Chief, will welcome you and provide a short historical overview of the Kalinago people, also known as the Carib. As you visit each family home you can participate in activities such as basket weaving, bamboo weaving, making traditional fish traps, squeezing sugar cane juice and making cassava bread. Natural medical techniques are still practiced here, and you can learn how herbs are used for healing. The name Touna means water in the Kalinago language, so come prepared to enjoy the beautiful crystal-clear river pools.

At the conclusion of your visit you can refresh with local snacks and drinks.

SHOPPING
The Kalinago take great pride in the traditional art forms that have been preserved and are still practiced here and during the excursion you can shop for Kalinago arts and crafts at the residents' homes.
