Come enjoy the off-the-grid Alaskan lifestyle so few have had the chance to experience! This incredible tour will take you to a remote fly-in lodge that is only accessible by airplane. The Wood River Lodge is 30 roadless miles east of the Denali National Park, nestled between the beautiful, winding Wood River and scenic Mt. Anderson. The flight portion is 60 total minutes in the air over vast expanses where only caribou, bear, dall sheep, and moose roam. Departing from the Healy River Airport, you will soar over the Nenana River on the way to Mt. Deborah and the Yanert Glacier for some spectacular mountainous and glacial views before landing. Once at the Wood River Lodge, you will go on a scenic and informative walking tour of the timeless Wood River Lodge by the family who owns it themselves. This lodge was built more than 100 years ago and its walls are filled with history of famous bush pilots, authentic Alaskan homesteaders, and some of the best hunters in the world. After the tour commences, you will sit around the covered, in-ground fire pit for a treat and a relaxing end to the adventure before a beautiful flight back to Healy!
