Take a walk through ancient history on this exhilarating full day tour of Crete's most popular sites. First on your itinerary is the famous Minoan Palace in Knossos. Stretched over six acres, the palace is a marvel of camera-worthy delights. 1,300 rooms, corridors of different sizes, walls adorned with colorful frescoes, and graceful columns all add to the grandeur that was once the largest of all Minoan palatial structures. Once inside the palace you'll visit the impressive Throne Room. Inside the chamber is an alabaster seat surrounded by magnificent frescoes. Next, is a scenic ride to the picturesque resort town of Aghios Nikolaos for souvenir shopping.Then you'll continue to Elounda and a photo stop of Spinalonga Island, which served as a leper colony until 1957, A delicious Greek lunch is following. The tour of Knossos involves approximately 1.5 hour walking over some relatively flat and uneven ground with steps at various points in the site, so low-heeled, comfortable shoes are recommended.
