The history, culinary traditions and colorful folklore of the Mayan culture are on full display on this half-day adventure that begins with a short motor coach drive through the verdant landscapes of Cozumel Island. Your destination is Kun Che, an experiential park located within the oldest human settlement of the island, "El Cedral" town. In this Mayan sanctuary, you will witness the culture's most sacred pre-Hispanic ball game, "pok ta pok," which concluded with human sacrifices to the gods of the underworld. After the spectacle, experience the flavors of Mayan cuisine, learn how handmade corn tortillas and the Mayan tamal (tamale) are prepared, and engage in an organic artisan cacao "chocolate" making demonstration. Then, tuck into an authentic Mayan lunch with fresh tortillas accompanied by a lively and colorful Mexican fiesta complete with a folkloric ballet troupe that performs regional dances from the Yucatan Peninsula. Return to port after this enriching day.
