What you will visit:

Cozumel Coral Reef Restoration Program
The mission of the Cozumel Coral Reef Restoration Program is the preservation of the fragile coral reefs, providing educational programs promoting conservation of the coral reefs, and the restoration of reefs affected by human activities and storms. It aims to educate and empower others to take care of and improve our ocean. A nonprofit organization, it is funded solely by donations. The program allows ecologically minded travelers to experience the beauty of the sea while aiding marine biologists with their important work in the local ecosystem, assisting in a variety of tasks that could include coral fragments planting, gathering, identification or even beach restoration activities. Snorkelers later are guided through coral gardens appreciate the environment that they've helped to preserve.

What you will see along the way:
The abundant and beautiful marine life in Cozumel that has been vividly documented by such famous oceanographers as Jacques Cousteau, took several hits, from hurricanes to global warming, which have threatened the marine life and its beauty. During this activity participants will learn about environmental challenges as well as the efforts and initiatives to preserve the fragile reefs.

Snack:
After your participation in the restoration program, you'll have time to rinse off and relax on the sandy beach. There is a restaurant and bar at this pleasant location serving local food and drinks (at your own expense).

Special Notes:

Wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, hat, and reef-safe/biodegradable sunscreen (no other kind of sunscreen is allowed in the water). To avoid sunburn, bring light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Minimum age to participate is 5 years old. Guest should know how to swim and snorkel. Travelers' participation in this activity will support the Cozumel Coral Reef Restoration program. Coral reefs are important for many reasons, aside from containing one of the most diverse ecosystems on the planet, as these reefs provide a vast array of benefits to mankind in the form of goods (products) and services (functions). Proceeds go towards Cozumel Coral Reef Restoration AC programs. Guests should know how to swim and snorkel. Guests with cardiac or pulmonary issues or back injuries must refrain from participating. See Medical Waiver. A Cozumel Coral Reef Restoration certificate of participation is awarded to all participants.
