Christchurch Heritage Tram
This is a delightfully unique way to explore the inner city of Christchurch, a wonderful mix of both old and new. Situated around the River Avon, its beautiful gothic architecture and blooming gardens were hit hard by the devastating 2011 earthquake, which leveled much of the city's infrastructure. But rising like a phoenix, Christchurch today is revitalized and growing and has turned much of the damaged areas into modern and beautiful outdoor public art galleries. See it all from the tram's picture windows.

Christchurch Gondola
Climb into your enclosed aerial gondola (or cable car) and gently lift off for a soaring ride to the summit of the Port Hills. From inside the comfortable, four-person cabin, travel almost 500 meters (1,640 feet) above sea level, then disembark at viewing decks to take in views over the Canterbury Plains out to the mighty Southern Alps and the dramatic hills of Banks Peninsula. You'll also find Red Rock Café, a snack shop (at your own expense) as well as the Shop at the Top gift store.

What you will see along the way:

During your heritage tram tour, see such sights as Cathedral Junction, the Gothic-style Arts Centre, Canterbury Museum, New Regent Street and more. Your gondola ride offers stellar views from the summit. To the west, admire the cityscape of Christchurch, the Canterbury Plains and the Southern Alps. To the north are the beaches of Pegasus Bay and the Pacific Ocean, and to the south and east Banks Peninsula, Lake Ellesmere and Lyttelton Harbor.
