Description

Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.

Catalina Island offers an abundance of natural wonders both onshore and off. You can experience both during this half-day, guided island adventure that takes you see the island's rugged interior and the marine life that teems in its sparkling blue waters.

Your adventure begins at the ship's tender arrival gate where you will step aboard an air-conditioned motorcoach. Then embark on a scenic drive along winding roads that offer views of Avalon Harbor, filled with sailboats and yachts bobbing to the rhythm of the ocean tides.

Isolated coves, pristine beaches, and broad valleys where wild bison roam freely beckon as you travel deep into the island. Your naturalist guide will point out these highlights as well as native plants and animals that make Catalina so unique. Have your cameras at the ready because besides wild bison, you may also have the pleasure of seeing wild boar, black crow and the Channel Island fox. Look to the skies to glimpse majestic bald eagles as they soar.

Then up, up you go to the island's summit: a 1,602-foot-tall mountaintop that is the site of Catalina's only airport. Aptly named "Airport In The Sky," it was constructed here in the 1940s because there was no other location on the island flat enough for plane landings!
Step off your motorcoach to take in stunning island vistas. Enjoy a few minutes to look at the three-dimensional diorama of the island and an educational exhibit about the various peoples that have inhabited Catalina through time.

Check out the souvenir shop and the coffee shop (famous for its delicious homemade cookies) before re-boarding your motorcoach to continue your exploration.

You've seen the beauty of the island's interior. Now it's time to see the mysterious beauty that lies just offshore beneath the surface of the Pacific. And you can do it without even getting wet!

You'll return to town where you'll be transferred to a state-of-the art Glass Bottom Boat! Catalina Island is famous for crystal clear water and these large, comfortable vessels offer the perfect "window" to discovery, bringing the undersea world right to you!
Your crew will set a course for Lover's Cove, a California protected marine preserve. Peer down through the glass bottom of your boat as it cruises over breathtaking kelp forests that sway in a graceful underwater ballet.

Your guide will point out unique and colorful marine life as you marvel at the exquisite loveliness of garibaldi, Kelp Bass, Leopard sharks, bat rays, moray eels, sardines, and, yes, even the occasional great white shark, that make their home in the cool currents.

You can even feed the fish through specially designed food tubes! Cost of the fish food is extra, but the spectacular number of fish it attracts is an exhilarating sight to see!

As you cruise back across the glistening waters to your harbor, contemplate the natural wonders that Catalina Island has offered you this day.
