What you will visit:
Sossusvlei
Namibia's best-known attraction, spectacular Sossusvlei is situated in the largest conservation area in Africa (the Namib-Naukluft National Park) surrounded by soaring red dunes, some of the highest in the world, reaching almost 1,312 feet (400 meters). Sossusvlei means 'dead-end marsh,' where the dunes come together preventing the Tsauchab River to flow any further. During rainy season, the Tsauchab fills the pan, drawing visitors from all over the world to witness this spectacular site. Although the harsh desert conditions prevail, a variety of plants and animals have adapted to the environment and thrive.

Sossusvlei Desert Lodge:
Nestled deep in the heart of Namibia's ancient Namib Desert in southern Africa, Sossusvlei Desert Lodge is a serene oasis with awe-inspiring views overlooking stony outcrops, spectacular red sand dunes and the scorched black trees of Dead Vlei. The outer-worldly landscapes offer endless horizons, vast windswept spaces and distant mountain ranges. Spacious accommodations complemented by true hospitality from attentive staff and ample amenities including a pool, award-winning cuisine and views of floodlit watering holes.
Sossusvlei Desert Activities:
Twice-daily guided nature drives in open-air vehicles are an opportunity to track the unique desert-adapted wildlife as well as encounter zebra, cheetah, kudu, baboon, steenbok and the elusive leopard. Additional optional activities include guided dune walks that introduce life below the sands. Expeditions to the nearby caves can be arranged. Quad biking trails and dune drives offer exciting adventures, and evening star gazing with resident astronomers introduces the stars and constellations in the southern African sky.
What you will see along the way:
From spectacular sunrises to sparkling night skies, your days are filled with unforgettable views and landscapes. See the large, flat, dry lakebeds set against the red sand dunes. See the ancient black trees of Dead Vlei and Dune 45, the world's most photographed dune. Those feeling energetic might want to take in the panoramic vistas from the upper ridge of Big Daddy Dune, one of the highest in the area. The flora and fauna have evolved in order to survive in the extreme Namib Desert.
Photo Opportunities:
This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for photographers. A long lens is a must for capturing the animals and birdlife, and remember to pack a charger, spare battery and extra memory cards. It is also helpful to bring ziplock bags to protect your equipment from dust and sand.

Meals:
Day 1: After your morning travels, enjoy lunch at Sossusvlei Desert Lodge. An African cuisine dinner concludes the day. Day 2 and 3: An early breakfast is served at the lodge. Brunch in the desert, followed by a late lunch back at the lodge. Dinner and stargazing. Day 4: Early breakfast before traveling.
